Student Dress Code
Pre-school students and students in Transition Kindergarten are not required to wear the school uniform, but should come to school in clothing appropriate to the learning environment.
Students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 8 wear the St. Joseph School uniform. Gym uniforms are also required.
Girls in Kindergarten - Grade 3 wear a blue plaid jumper, plaid tie, short-sleeve blue blouse, navy knee socks and dress shoes. Boys in Kindergarten through Grade 3 wear navy trousers, blue shirt and a blue plaid tie.
Girls in grades 4 through 8 wear a navy kilt with a white blouse. Boys in grades 4 through 8 wear navy pants, white shirts and navy ties. Both girls and boys in each of these grade levels also wear a sweater vest, whose color changes as the grade changes. Red for grade 4, green for grade 5, navy for grade 6, maroon for grade 7, and gray for grade 8.
For all grade levels, a coordinating sweater is available for the winter months. Non-uniform sweaters or sweatshirts are prohibited during class time. In addition, girls K – 8 also have the option of wearing the uniform navy slack, as supplied by the uniform company. All students must wear dress shoes, which should coordinate with the school uniform. Navy and black are popular choices.
During warm weather, students have the option of wearing a St. Joseph School logo golf shirt and dress Bermuda shorts. Every spring the COED uniform company offers an on-site measuring day for the convenience of parents who wish to order uniforms for the next year. Uniforms are also available through their retail outlet, located in near-by Elmwood Park. Twice a year the PTO sponsors a uniform exchange day, where parents can exchange outgrown uniforms with others that have been donated.
